And a Dash of Life Experience
Resumes are great for getting straight to the point about our experience - but they leave out the importance of what we learned, beyond the headline. This page will give you further insight into the person I am, have become, and have the potential to be.
Semester Abroad
In 2018, I spent July - November at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. In my time there, I was lucky to travel to the most incredible places in the country itself, but also Dubai, New Zealand, and Bali. Between swimming with humpback whales, jumping out of planes, and chasing waterfalls - I did it all.
Beyond the content of my courses, Australia showed me how behind the United States is in terms of our environmental efforts and I believe there is a lot we can learn from the land down under.

Alternative Breaks
In the spring of 2017, my first year at Elon, I decided to participate in an alternative breaks program over spring break. I got to spend 10 days in LA with other students working with the Richstone Family Center and Free Arts.
This experience deepened my appreciation for my education and upbringing. Most of the children we worked with came from low SES backgrounds and/or neglectful family situations.
Working with kids is my favorite way to volunteer because adults learn just as much from kids as they learn from us.

Resident Advisor
At the end of my first year at Elon, my RA told me she had recommended me for the position because of my compassion and leadership.
After a competitive and lengthy application process, I received an offer for the only scarier place to be than an all men's freshman dorm: The all women's freshman dorm.
Was I nervous? Yes. Did that mean I was going to turn down this offer? Absolutely not.
It was at this moment and all throughout the year of living in Carolina that I truly learned self-confidence. If after a three-part interview process Residence Life felt that I would be the best match for this position, I should feel that way too.
... and I was. I loved being the older sister to 30 girls and helping them through their first year at Elon. I had never had any sisters, but having 30 little sisters to be accountable for definitely made up for all my years of being an only child.

Sports
Sports touch many areas of my life and are responsible for a portion of my personality development. The things I learned from sports are carried with me into my everyday life.
Running track taught me accountability. I went into every race knowing that my individual performance could mean the difference between 1st and 2nd place for my team.
I thank ice hockey for my tenacity and resiliency. It took 3 years to convince my parents to let me start playing ice hockey. After that, they could no longer use"because you're a girl" when telling me no. After putting in hours of extra time to catch up with my peers who began at a younger age, I eventually became the captain of my high school team.
As a born and raised Red Sox fan, baseball keeps me feeling close to home. Even now, 6 years after losing him my father, I still feel a connection to him through this sport. Every boy on his side of the family is named after a Red Sox Player.

Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the International Honors Society for Psychology. I was proudly inducted into this organization on April 12, 2018.
My membership in this organization exemplifies my academic efforts and gives proof to all those extra hours put in. This organization requires a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and to be in the top 30% of one's class in general scholarship.
